Where is Fushi Organic Virgin Coconut Oil sourced from?
Fushi Organic Virgin Coconut Oil is sourced from Sri Lanka. Evidently the red yellow pod zolic Sri Lankan soil is one of the most fertile soils naturally and abundant in Minerals, and naturally free from fertilisers and weedicides. Sri Lanka is the perfect location, being an island buffered by the sea, makes the agro-climatic conditions ideal for the coconut tree to thrive and deliver a unique flavour. Fushi's growers only grow the natural tall natives and do not cross pollinate to create hybrid trees for better yields, so the coconuts are as nature would have intended leaving their nutritional qualities as close to nature and 100% pure. The grove is sustainably cultivated, and the soil is fertilised using natural animal and Food compost.
Is Fushi Organic Virgin Coconut Oil high in saturated fat?
Fushi Organic Virgin Coconut Oil is abundant in Lauric acid, a type of saturated fatty acid that does raise Cholesterol levels but mainly the healthy type, known as HDL. The chain length of saturated fats is another indicator of healthfulness. Fushi Organic Virgin Coconut Oil also contains medium-chain triglycerides, which are used directly for Energy by the Body. These Fatty Acids are mostly lost during the refining process, but they are present in unrefined coconut oil. This means that the fat content of unrefined coconut oil may actually prove beneficial.
Why should I cook with Fushi Organic Virgin Coconut Oil?
Fushi Organic Virgin Coconut Oil has a high smoking point of 350° F. The smoking point of an oil is how high a temperature it can reach before the natural impurities in the oil begin to burn. The lower the smoking point, the lower the temperature the oil can be heated to before it starts smoking as a result of burning impurities. Higher smoke-point oils are better for high-temperature cooking, including deep frying.
