Cashew nuts are native to the coastal areas of North Eastern Brazil but are also cultivated in other hot and humid climates, such as India, Vietnam, Nigeria, Mozambique and Tanzania. Crammed full of numerous health-promoting Vitamins and Minerals, cashew nuts are a rich source of dietary fibre too.
Sweetly flavoured cashew nuts can be consumed as a stand-alone snack or as part of trail mix. They are also used in a variety of home cooked rice dishes and stir fry's, as well as being the key ingredient in Cashew Nut Butter. Like most other Nuts however, there is a daily limit when it comes to consuming cashews, with many nutritionists & weight-management experts recommending no more than 4 - 5 a day.
