Shea Butter comes from the kernel of the Shea tree fruit which grows wild in equatorial regions of central Africa. The Shea tree begins bearing fruit after 10-15 years. It matures at around 20 years when it is in full fruit production. Shea trees live up to 200 years and grow up to 15 metres.

They are a member of the NBSSI (National Board of Small Scale Industries) backed by the government.
