What does Horse Chestnut do?

A standardised horse chestnut seed extract, such as Viridian Horse Chestnut Seed, is thought to reduce some symptoms of poor blood circulation, such as water retention, varicose veins, and the swelling in the legs. Horse Chestnut also contains powerful Antioxidants, as its rich a rich source of the flavonoid compounds; kaempfero and Quercetin.

What is Horse Chestnut Seed extract?

Horse Chestnut seed extract is made from freshly harvested horse chestnut seeds from a tree native to the Balkan Peninsula. The active component of Horse Chestnut seed extract is aescin, which is believed to offer many different health benefits.

Why are Horse Chestnuts called Horse Chestnuts?

When the Horse Chestnut tree (Aesculus hippocastanum) was brought to the UK in the early 1600's from the Balkans, it got it's name from the fact that its seeds were fed to the Turks. These are the same seeds gathered each autumn for a game of conkers too!

What is Horse Chestnut used for?
