Lamberts Zinc Plus Lozenges are the go-to supplement if your looking to maintain the health of your throat and lessen the symptoms of Cold & Flu. The active ingredients, zinc & vitamin C, contribute to the normal function of the Immune System (studies suggest taking 1000-6000mg of vitamin C a day at the onset of cold reduces the cold's duration by 21%), while vitamin C also maintains an almost neutral pH and thus avoids any damage to your teeth. Bee propolis is included as it is known to have mild antimicrobial activity.

Why is Zinc important?

Zinc is found in the cells of our body, as its required by the immune system to work properly. Zinc is also nrequired for the senses of taste and smell, but ultimately is essential for the role it plays in cell division, cell growth, and the breakdown of carbohydrates.

A national UK survey found that zinc intake was below recommended targets in 43% or men and 45% of women aged 19-50 years. Of children aged 4 and over, 89% had intakes below recommended levels. Among the elderly, more than 62% were not reaching their daily targets. The refining of cereal grains, a major dietary staple in the UK, has been shown to remove up to 90% of the available zinc content of these foodstuffs. This, combined with the trend to eat less animal-derived protein, is likely to be one of the reasons why a staggering one out of three adults in the UK receives less than the RNI for this mineral.

What foods contain Zinc?

Many ready-to-eat breakfast cereals are fortified with zinc, with other rich Food sources including:

What is Bee Propolis?

Bee Propolis comes from resins collected from trees and plants by bees. The resin collected is then combined with wax to make bee propolis. The bees use the sticky propolis to seal the hive and to create a sterile environment, free from microbes and other invaders. Medicinally, bee propolis has been used for centuries.  During the Greek and Roman times, bee propolis was used for wound healing. Throughout the first and second world war, propolis was used in first aid to reduce wound infection and to speed up the healing process. These days bee propolis is used in Dental Care products, Skin creams, Digestive Aids, and those products that offer Immune Support.
