These capsules also include a standardised extract of black Pepper, providing 95% piperine which is shown to increase the absorption of CoQ10 by an extra 30%.
CoQ10 helps generate Energy in our cells, but as we age our natural production of CoQ10 tends to slow down. CoQ10 is not only responsible for energy generation in our cells, it’s also full of Antioxidants which protects our cells from oxidative damage.
The form of Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) in Together Bio-CoQ10 Capsules is ubiquinone.
CoQ10 supplements can either be in the oxidized form (ubiquinone) or the reduced form (ubiquinol). CoQ10 changes between these two forms within the Body depending on the cell's oxidative state. So for example in it's reduced form (ubiquinol) C0Q10 is highly unstable in the contents of the stomach and is converted to the oxidized form of CoQ10 (ubiquinone) before absorption.
There have been far more clinical studies undertaken on ubiquinone than ubiquinol too, and the wealth of these studies have shown the efficacy and safety of CoQ10 are when it is in it's oxidized form as ubiquinone. Of the studies conducted that directly compare the two forms, none have shown a significant difference regarding absorption or effectiveness between the two forms. Consequently, taking ubiquinol as a nutrient is essentially the same as taking the more stable and less expensive oxidized form that Together Bio-CoQ10 Capsules contain, ubiquinone. Also, without the addition of a lipid carrier molecule to facilitate the absorption of CoQ10, it is poorly absorbed. That is why Together Bio-CoQ10 Capsules are produced in a base of coconut oil. Piperine is then added as it has been shown to increase absorption of CoQ10 by 30%.
