Dill is an annual herb in the celery family Apiaceae, which grows widely across Europe and Asia. Its seeds and leaves are often used for flavouring food.
Dill goes well with most herbs, but particularly complements Basil, Garlic, Mint and Parsley.
It is not considered a superfood, however there is no doubting the nutritional value of dill. You may be surprised to learn that dill is actually full of vitamins & minerals, such as Vitamin A, Vitamin C and Manganese. Vitamin A supports cell growth, foetal development & immune function, while vitamin C is required for the growth, development and maintenance of all body tissues. Manganese plays a role in fat & carbohydrate metabolism, blood sugar regulation and the sex hormones.
It is commonly used in North African cuisine, while over here in the UK dill seeds are prominent in bread and crackers. Fresh dill can be used in garnishes or vinegars.
