Plant Waters - Making a Big Splash

Plant Waters

We are constantly being reminded of the importance of drinking enough water but do you sometimes fancy something a little bit different – something refreshing but with a new appeal ?  If so plant waters may be just the thing for you so why not give them a try ?

Recently these “trendy” waters are making a big splash among the health conscious and many are endorsed by celebrities. It is believed they are packed with electrolytes and vitamins thus enhancing the whole hydration business and giving additional health benefits.

We have listed the most popular of these available on our website and a little bit about them :

  • ALOE VERA WATER: A colourless, slightly bitter and citrusy flavoured water providing vitamins, minerals and amino acids. Some waters have gel like aloe floating in them whilst others are clear. Flavourings such as honey, wheatgrass, cane sugar or fruit juice are sometimes added. Aloe Vera has anti-inflammatory properties and may also help with gastric problems including heartburn and constipation.
  • BAMBOO WATER: Not just for Pandas ! Tastes fresh and naturally hydrates as well as maximising the benefits of the Bamboo plant by using its nutritious leaves.
  • BIRCH WATER: Birch Water is tapped from the tree in early Spring and provides a good source of Vitamin C, Manganese and Iron. Has been popular for many years in Scandanavia but only taken off in the UK more recently.
  • CACTUS WATER: Cactus Water is made from prickly pear, prickly pear extract and flavouring. A few recent studies have suggested it may be beneficial in reducing the symptoms of hangover.
  • COCONUT WATER: One of the first of these drinks to become popular and thought to hydrate our bodies more effectively than ordinary tap water as well as being a good source of potassium. Made from immature green coconuts because the mature coconuts release coconut milk. Refreshing with a sweet nutty taste.
  • MAPLE WATER: Pure Maple Water is the liquid released from the Maple tree in early Spring and the Native Americans have enjoyed it for many years. Containing many nutrients essential for good health including amino acids and minerals. A refreshing drink with a hint of natural sweetness.
  • WATER MELON WATER: A refreshing drink high in beta carotene and potassium. Since watermelon is a great source of citruline ( a precursor to the amino acid argine that supports blood vessel health ) there may be benefits in lowering blood pressure and erectile function. Described by some as “Summer in your mouth” !
  • BLACK WATER: The “coolest” or “oddest” of the waters depending on your opinion ! Resembles cola in colour but has no sugar or salt content. Made by adding fulvic acid to spring water and providing electrolytes and minerals to balance your internal pH.
