Coeliac Awareness Week

Awareness of Coeliac Disease and the Gluten Free Diet is growing but there is still a lack of knowledge about symptoms and they are often wrongly linked to a variety of other conditions. It is estimated that there are around half a million people living with the disease in the UK and everyone’s help is needed to help with the problem.

Coeliac disease is caused by the immune system reacting to gluten and causing some or all of the following symptoms – tiredness, weight loss. diarrhoea, constipation, nausea, bloating, wind, headaches and hair loss. You can, perhaps see why there can be difficulty establishing a firm diagnosis.

For several years, the theme for Coeliac Awareness Week has been 'The Gluten Free Challenge' in which people are encouraged to eat gluten free for a week.

The aim is to encourage people to think about how foods which contain gluten can affect people with coeliac disease. This challenge also aims to highlight difficulties people with coeliac disease may have when trying to maintain a gluten free diet.

We offer a wide range of Gluten Free food items that are great for those who suffer with Coeliac disease or those on a Gluten Free diet.
