Garam Masala is a blend of Indian ground spices that feature heavily in Indian, Pakistani, Sri Lankan and Caribbean cuisine.

What is garam masala made of?

It can be made from varying spices, but some of the most commonly used include Nutmeg, cardamom, mustard seeds, peppercorns and Cinnamon.

What does garam masala taste like?

It is generally not fiery hot but will add a distinctive sweet warmth, with a touch of peppery heat and floral notes to your home cooked dishes.

Is garam masala the same as curry powder?

No. Curry powder is a British invention, while Garam Masala is an authentic Indian blend with a stronger flavour than that of curry powder.

Why is garam masala added at the end?

Garam Masala has already been roasted and grounded and therefore requires much less heat to release its flavours and unmistakable aroma.
