National Vegetarian Week 16th - 22nd May 2016

Food has a special place in most peoples’ hearts and can revive special memories of places, people and events so why not share your meat-free recipes and promote veggie products and the veggie way of life. The website for the event is  www.nationalvegetarianweek.org and you can post your own special recipes there. Many people are organising a get together with family, friends and colleagues or even a community event to mark the week.

The Vegetarian Society is a charitable organisation that organises this event to raise awareness of the benefits of becoming a vegetarian. Have you ever thought about becoming meat – free ?  If so why not visit their website for more information as it’s surprisingly simple and there are a wide array of foods out there to choose from such as eggs, cheese, pulses, nuts, tofu,. and of course herbs and spices. The Society aims to give you clear, updated dietary guidance based on official UK nutritional recommendations. Factsheets are available to show how your diet can help with certain medical conditions and the evidence for this.

A balanced vegetarian diet is one of the healthiest diets around and is packed with a variety of fruits and vegetables, just as the government and the medical profession recommend. Being a vegetarian is a choice that is kinder to animals, people and the environment and some research has shown that vegetarians have a lower incidence of obesity, heart disease, high blood pressure and Type 2 Diabetes.

As always Natures Healthbox aims to support you in whatever type of diet you choose to follow and there are a wide range of products suitable for both vegetarians and vegans.
