June 2013 Product Picks

  • I recently went on holiday to Corfu and wanted an intensive aftersun cream but was after something that smelt good too- I opted for the Jason Natural Nourishing Cocoa Butter Cream 120g tub. What I liked about the butter cream, aside from that is smelt good enough to eat, was that a little went a long way- I used this every day for 2 weeks and the tub lasted the duration of my holiday. The Jason body butter left my skin very soft and hydrated after being in the sun all day, especially my hands and feet. It absorbs really quickly and leaves the skin with a healthy glow; I will definitely be stocking up on this as I think my skin would benefit from it year round
  • I invested in a tube of Green People Sun Lotion SPF15 with Tan Accelerator for my holiday too- it is the first time I have tried a natural sun cream and I was pleasantly surprised. The sun lotion was fairly thick but was easy to rub in, I wasn't so keen on the slight white hue it left on my skin but I liked the fact it wasn't oily and greasy and didn't leave a residue on my skin. I did have to apply it often but it was worth it as it encouraged a healthy golden glow on my skin whilst preventing me from getting sunburnt. I loved the distinctive smell of rosemary which I felt also deterred the mosquitos (but don't quote me on that one, I may have just been lucky)- I would definitely purchase this for my next summer holiday but take two tubes instead of one; it was worth every penny
  • Since the turn of the year, you will be aware from my previous posts that I have been on a health kick, cutting down on gluten and dairy. I still occasionally crave a nice coffee and Bonsoy Soy Milk  is the closest thing to regular milk, in my opinion, that offers a creamy dairy free coffee. It is very smooth and tastes lovely- I also regularly have it in tea or on cereal- now the weather is warming up I will probably be using it in smoothies and shakes too
  • I was very excited when we listed the Benecos range of natural make-up, there was far too much to choose from but my first choice was the Benecos Natural Mascara Maximum Volume Smooth Brown as my usual mascara was running out. It was easy to apply and did not clump my lashes, the jojoba seed oil and beeswax left my eyelashes feeling conditioned, even after removing. This natural mascara is perfect for day time to give your eyes definition, due to it having no chemicals or irritants it has been great for my sensitive eyes
  • I was feeling exceptionally hungry one lunch time and I knew my usual lunchtime favourite Amy's Kitchen Tomato Soup just wasn't going to fill me up on it's own. I decided to try the Consenza Cheese and Pumpkin Crackers with my soup. Although they are a little bit different from what I would usually eat they went very well with a scoop of houmous and my soup; I surprisingly enjoyed these more than I expected and they are also gluten free so don't leave you feeling bloated. I will definitely be enjoying these at lunch time again, they are ideal for soup dipping or even with a cheese board
  • I recently tried the Organic Surge Fresh Ocean Shower Gel  that my Dad had actually purchased and I pinched it! The first thing that hit me was the fresh, summery scent which stayed on my skin for quite a while after my shower which surprised me as most shower gel scents don't last. The essential oils in the shower gel were naturally uplifting and left me clean, refreshed and feeling happy. The shower gel is ideal for men or women as the fragrance is unisex, the only downside is that I now owe my Dad a bottle of shower gel
