What is Ginkgo?

The name Ginkgo derives from the Japanese name Gingkyo which is thought to come from the Chinese yin-hsing, which refers to the fleshy fruits and loosely translates as Silver Apricot. The plant has long been regarded as sacred to the ancient and modern culture of both China and Japan. The tree from where the ginkgo leaf falls is considered a living fossil.
