Plantain, or plantago, is a species of small, inconspicuous edible weeds that can grow up 60cm in height.  It should not be confused with the unrelated cooking plantain, which is a kind of fruit like a banana.  There are two species of Plantain, found primairily in Europe & the United States, which include Plantago major and Plantago lanceolata.
