As well as spicing up your favourite sandwich, there are hundreds of things you can choose to do with our versatile range of Vegan Spreads, Pate, & Pastes. This particular selection of vegan friendly products, below, are all made up of ingredients such as vegetable fats, Nuts & Seeds, Rice, Pulses & Grains.
As more and more people are questioning the consumption of animal products and their impact our health and the environment, our Vegan Spreads, Pate & Pastes present a healthy and tasty alternative to animal-based spreads for vegans and vegetarians alike.
What makes a vegan spread?
When we think of vegan friendly spreads, the first thing that usually comes to mind is hummus or guacamole. Hummus is Middle Eastern dip consisting of chickpeas, tahini, spices and olive oil, while guacamole is made from avocados. However, these days there are far more spreads for vegans to choose from, which include;
- Nut Butters - made from Peanuts, Hazelnuts, Cashew Nuts, Macadamia Nuts, Almonds, Sunflower Seeds, or Sesame Seeds. Nut butters provide a valuable source of plant-based fats and Vitamin E.
- Pesto - makes for a healthy alternative to butter and other spreads. Pesto is made from Pine Nuts or cashews, virgin Olive oil, and a selection of Herbs & Spices.
- Legume-based spreads - such as the aformentioned hummus, are made from ingredients such as chickpeas, lentils, beans and vegetables. Legume-based spreads provide a rich source of protein, fibre, Iron, and B vitamins.
- Jams - not all jams are made for with gelatine or other animal-based ingredients. If you look hard enough, you will find that some fruit preserves are made with pectin, a plant-based thickening agent.
