According to PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals), these days packaged pasta is usually vegan friendly. Though most household brands are not presently 'certified vegan', most pasta's do contain ingredients like durum Flour, semolina and Vitamins (for added enrichment), which are all safe for vegan consumption.

How do I know whether or not my pasta & noodles are vegan friendly?

Although there are a large variety of vegan friendly noodles & pasta within the current Food market, there are still a few types that vegans should avoid, as they do not meet the strict vegan dietary guidelines. These include;

  • Meat or cheese filled pasta - obviously these self explanatory types of pasta's are as they are stuffed with cheese or meat. Raviolis is a common example of this.
  • Egg noodles & oven-ready lasagna noodles - again, an obvious choice to avoid but all brands of egg noodles will always contain egg or egg yolk within the ingredients.
