    Garlic

    Garlic belongs to the genus Allium and is therefore a close relative of the chive, leek, onion and shallot. It contains the highest sulphur content of any member of the genus, and its trace elements, Selenium & germanium, are thought to be important factors in the herb's potent medicinal properties. Native to North-Eastern Iran and Central Asia, garlic is now a firmly established seasoning worldwide, with a history of use spanning several thousands of years.
