Vanilla

Vanilla is a flavour derived from a species of orchid that has a distinctive aroma but can be very expensive. It is used widely in both commercial and domestic baking, perfume and beauty product manufacture and aromatherapy.  The vanilla pods contain the seeds which provide the characteristic flavour for ice cream, yoghurt, drinks etc but it is also manufactured as vanilla extract and is an ingredient in a number of teas and infusions.
