Sesame

Sesame is a flowering plant found mainly in Africa and India and the seeds are a rich source of oil which are nutritious but can provoke allergy reactions in some people. The seeds are commonly used in cooking, sprinkled on breads, biscuits and salads and made into tahini paste which is an ingredient of houmous. Sesame seed oil is distinctive, fragrant and full of flavour – slightly sweet and nutty and used frequently in oriental cuisine.
