What is Ghee?

Ghee is clarified butter that has been slowly cooked for hours to remove any impurities, water, lactose and milk solids. It has recently been deemed a nourishing powerhouse in Europe and North America as Ghee benefits from superb nutritional value but it has been known for these qualities in South Asia for centuries. Organic ghee has been an important staple in Indian cuisine for centuries and in Asian cultures where it is recognised and highly valued by Ayurveda, the ancient medical science of India. Placed at the top of the oily foods list, Ghee is considered to be an essential part of a balanced diet. According to tradition it not only benefits the internal health of the Body but also softens, strengthens and nourishes the Skin.

Is Fushi Organic Ghee pasteurised and/or homogenised?

Fushi Organic Ghee is not homogenised. It is made from butter which has been produced by using pasteurised cream.

What are the health benefits of Ghee in Ayurveda?

Ghee has immense healing benefits as it contains a balance of easy to digest Fatty Acids, such as butyric acid which helps maintain the health of the cells that line the gastrointestinal tract. Known for it anti-inflammatory properties, Ghee is also rich in Antioxidants and acts as an aid in the absorption of Vitamins (A, D, E & K) and Minerals from other foods.

Is Ghee easy to cook with?

Yes! Ghee has an extremely high smoke point (251 °C/485 °F), making it an excellent choice for frying with as it doesn’t burn easily.
