The Chicory Company is a small family run business, and for over 20 years has been selling Chicory Drinks. The Chicory Company was formerly known as Prewetts. but in 2017 they decided to move away from what they felt was a difficult name to remember & spell.
What is Chicory?
Most people are familiar with chicory as a coffee substitute. But did you know that chicory is also a highly nutritious root vegetable? Chicory is a relative of the dandelion, and its nutritional profile reflects this. Like dandelions, chicory leaves are rich in vitamins A and C, as well as calcium and iron. The roots are even more nutrient-dense, containing inulin (a prebiotic fibre) and luteolin (an antioxidant).
Chicory has a long history of use in traditional medicine. It was used to treat digestive problems, skin conditions, and even headaches. Today, we know that Chicory's prebiotic properties make it great for gut health, while the antioxidants in the roots can help protect against free radical damage.
