Once your baby has accepted their first tastes, you not only start to add more texture, but your baby Food also needs to contain more specific nutrients and food types, thereby becoming more of a complete meal. Rather than the traditional rice, Babease Organic Root Vegetable & Quinoa Pilaf features Quinoa instead to create a unique, balanced recipe for your little one.

What is complementary feeding?

Introducing solids is known as complementary feeding or weaning and it is the introduction of foods which complement your babies usual milk – rather than replacing it.

When should complementary foods be introduced?

The Department of Health (DoH) and the World Health Organisation (WHO) advise complementary feeding at around six months, however if you are unsure, it is advised to consult your health visitor if you believe that your baby is ready to wean earlier.

When can a baby move to stage 2 foods?

Babies at 7 to 8 months of age can eat stage 2 baby foods, which include combination & single-ingredient foods, which are strained rather than pureed. Stage 2 or 'Added Texture’ recipes have at least the same amount of calories (or more) as breast milk which is on average 65 calories per 100g.

How do you know when baby is ready for stage 2 foods?

Once your baby is between 6-8 months of age and has had much success with stage 1 solids, trying a multiple of different foods, is it safe to advance to a stage 2 baby food.
