The annual commemoration of the birth of Jesus Christ celebrated in the Western world on December 25th observed as a day of secular celebrations when gifts and greetings are exchanged. Traditionally the festive period extends from 24th December through to January 6th which is known as twelfth night and incorporates the New Year.
